The Seven Wonders of Ukraine

Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle is a former Ruthenian-Lithuanian castle and a later three-part Polish fortress located in the historic city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine, in the historic region of Podolia in the Western part of the country. The complex is a candidate UNESCO World Heritage Site, nominated in 1989, and is one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine. Today, Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle is the most recognized landmark of the city, serving as an important regional and national tourist attraction.

Khotyn Fortress  is a fortification complex whose origins date back to the 10th century, located on the right bank of the Dniester River in the Chernivtsi Oblast of Western Ukraine. In September 2002, the ancient city celebrated its 1000-year anniversary and in August 2007, Khotyn Fortress was named to the Seven Wonders of Ukraine.

Lutsk Castle  – also locally known as Liubart’s Castle or Upper Castle, began its life in the mid-14th century as the fortified seat of Liubartas (Lubart), the last ruler of united Galicia-Volhynia. The current castle, towering over the Styr River, was built mostly in the 1340s, although some parts of the earlier walls were used. The walls of the castle formerly enclosed St. John’s Cathedral, a palace of the grand dukes, and an episcopal palace. Of these buildings, only the Neoclassical palace of the bishops still stands.

The Pysanka Museum. The current building was erected in 2000 in the western Ukrainian city of Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivska Oblast. Previously the pysanka collection had been housed in the Kolomyia church of the Annunciation. It is the only museum in the world dedicated to the pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg), and has become a calling card of the city. Currently the museum houses a collection of more than 13,000 pysanky. In August 2007 the museum was recognized as a landmark of modern Ukraine.

Dniester River Canyon  is located at the territory of Dniester River Valley in Ternopil Oblast Western Ukraine. Dniester Canyon is a 250 km (160 mi) river segment from the mouth of Zolota Lypa River to the mouth of Zbruch. The Dniester Canyon National Nature Park was established along the Dniester River course in 2010 and Dniester Canyon has been named as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Ukraine. The Dniester Canyon attracts thousands of water tourists each year including skydiving enthusiasts. Twice a year All-Ukrainian and International skydiving competition takes place here.
